Wasted
Life is just one big game, but when something goes wrong there is no reset button to begin it all again there is no difficulty setting or even cheats so when something goes wrong there is only one way to get around it. To keep playing and to try and make it all the better but some people find it hard to try and make it better some people just lie back and drown there sorrows and think that everything is going to be alright when it all over and this is the harsh reality of Sterling James Keenan
Despite landing that dream contract with the EWA and having all the money he could ever ask for still the stress of life still gets to Keenan and there’s very little he can do other then step back and get wasted for some this may be there paradise island to crack open a bottle of there favorite drink and keep drinking till they pass out but this has become more of a hobby for S.J.K a man who’s life in the wrestling world may be a good one but outside it’s a different story, but S.J.K’s high roller attitude is what is slowly sending him into a downward spiral that one day could end up being what sends S.J.K over the edge.
Sterling James Keenan’s Apartment
The sun sets over the Iron City and nothing but a orange haze covers the city as night starts to fall, the people are still on the streets still busy as can be not sleeping until everything is done the sound of thousand cars fills the air with horns sounding and angry drivers shouting out of the window at the driver in front, Keenan is lying on his leather sofa in nothing but a pair of shorts and a white tank fast asleep with a bottle of Jack Daniels hanging from his hand, he stays there undisturbed until a knock at the door wakes him up the bottle in his hand falls to the floor making a quiet thud on the carpet the remaining contents is spilt on the floor and soaks into the carpet, Keenan sits up slowly his body aching and his head pounding and the knocking on the door shoots up into his head making the pain even worse S.J.K stands up and staggers towards the door almost falling over everything on the way there, he walks into the door and then looks through the peep hole to see who it is and to his surprise it is someone he has not seen in a while a old friend of his dads who looked after S.J.K when he moved to the Iron City.
Joe: JAMES, You in there.
Sterling James Keenan: *Crockey Voice* Yeah just give me a second.
Keenan unlocks the all of the locks on the door and them scrabbles around trying to find the handle once he opens the door Joe is standing there shaking his head at James knowing fine well what he had been up to the night before, Keenan walks away from the door and staggers over to the sofa and falls onto it as Joe walks into the house and closes the door behind him clearly not impressed with Keenan state he walks over to the nearby chair close to the sofa and sits down on it leaning over to a weak S.J.K who looks like he is going to pass out off the sofa.
Joe: Man you look like shit.
Sterling James Keenan: Yeah you don’t know the half of it, what the hell you doing here anyway.
Joe: What the hell am I doing here? Ill tell you what I’m doing here I heard what you got up to at the casino I’m glad that this nice high roller life style you leading is going great for you the fact that you had to be brought home by a damn security guard is bad enough and this isn’t the first time either.
Sterling James Keenan: Yeah and what the hell is It to you?
Joe: Its a lot to me the fact that I promised your own dad that I would look after you when you moved here and that I would make sure you didn’t get into any trouble but no the big wrestling hotshot is all grown up now and by the looks of it can really handle himself out there.
Keenan ignores Joe and picks up the glass from the table and the remaining Jack Daniels from the floor and pours himself a small drink and quickly knocks it back, Joe shakes his head at Keenan who seems to not care what state he is in and lies back on the sofa still feeling the effects of the night before.
Joe: How the hell can you sit there and continue to drink? You’re going to end up screwing your life up with this shit.
Sterling James Keenan: I’ve had a hard time ok, and this is the only way I can keep myself from going crazy.
Joe: By getting yourself stupidly drunk every night? Because to me that sounds like a stupid excuse most people who have a hard time talk to people and try and get there emotions out but no not S.J.K he does it by getting wasted and gambling all his money away.
Joe sits up out of his chair clearly angry and frustrated at the state of Keenan but keeps a cool head as he slowly walks around the room to try and calm himself down as S.J.K leans over the side of the sofa with his head down feeling the worst of his hangover and trying not to be sick.
Joe: James I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do but I’m not going to let you just throw away your life just because your having a hard time now you have a match this weekend against not one but two guys and the last thing you need is to be going in there half assed because you where drunk for most the week so get your ass up off this sofa.
S.J.K sits up and walks over to the sliding door leading to the balcony he opens it up and the sounds of the city fill the apartment the sound of sirens and traffic can be heard from the heart of the city Keenan walks over to the edge and leans on it looking over at the city as the sun goes down slowly trying to get his head back and trying to sober up for the first time all week, Joe walks onto the balcony with him showing a face of concern for James who was in very rough condition.
Joe: If only your dad could see you now he would slap the taste out your mouth.
James nods knowing fine well that his dad would no be impressed by the way he was treating himself he continued to look over the balcony and takes a few deep breaths to try and get his head back, Joe walks over to the edge of the balcony and joins James looking over the city himself and taking in the city air.
Joe: So what wrong why you have been drinking yourself into the gutter the past few weeks?
Sterling James Keenan: Everything wrong, ever since I lost my job over in the U.K and I returned here everything has been on a vertical slope and nothing gets better, my Girlfriend left me all my money is starting to go and the only thing I can do is get wasted a pretend everything is fine the only good luck I have had is nailing the EWA contract but ever that isn’t enough to cancel out all my other problems.
Joe: Well don’t screw up now please don’t screw up you have a shot at being a big time superstar something you always wanted to be and now that’s its here I don’t want you going back into the gutter you hear me because this is the big time the EWA is no walk in the park so don’t let it get to you your match on Saturday is you big chance to shine you only have a few days to prepare now I can help you but you have to promise me one thing.
Sterling James Keenan: Yeah and what’s that?
Joe: You stop it with all this drinking crap and you get your ass back in track.
Keenan continues to look out into the city as Joe looks at him and waits for his reply but S.J.K remains motionless for a few seconds before turning his head and looking at Joe, Keenan stands up off the balcony railing and walks towards Joe.
Sterling James Keenan: Ok I promise you that ill stop all this shit and ill get my ass back in line.
Joe: Good boy your dad would be proud of for that now get yourself in bed and sleep it off then get yourself to the gym and start training up for your match remember this is a big deal so don’t just think that this is some little tryout that doesn’t matter I want to see you kicking some major ass on Saturday, well I’m glad I talked some sense into that head of yours and I’m glad that you have seen some also now I got to go now the wife will be kicking my ass if I don’t get home so you take care of yourself and don’t make me have to come around again because I don’t like having to give you lectures.
Joe pats Keenan on the back and then shows himself the door S.J.K continues to look out across the city trying to get his mind in the right place instead of swirling around because of the alcohol, Keenan hears the door slam as Joe leaves his apartment he walks back into his apartment and slides the door back into place and then turns around and looks as the mess in the room with bottles and glasses scattered all over the place he laughs to himself and shakes his head at the mess he has no intention of cleaning up, Keenan walks past the mess in the living room and into his bed room looking to sleep of his hangover and start fresh in the morning and ready to start his new life and new career in the major league that is EWA.
